Job Description :

  1. EAL teacher will be :- Planning and teaching EAL lessons to a group of mixed age (6yrs to 14yrs) and ability learners (some with little to no English). Conducting consistent reading and writing assessments to track EAL learners’ progress. Attending some planning sessions with Inclusion and Class teachers to contribute to whole class and EAL learners’ success lesson planning.
  2. Collaborating with other Inclusion and Class teachers to ensure that EAL teaching is aligned with the WCIP and class learning to facilitate interconnected rigorous learning. Initiating and preparing differentiated EAL materials for application in IPC, Maths and Language Arts. Supporting EAL learners in classes such as IPC and Language Arts. Meeting with EAL learners’ parents to discuss progress and recommend support at home Attending related Professional Development sessions. Share innovative and successful ideas with Class Teachers to support and teach EAL learners in class. Develop learner focused relationships to ensure that the EAL learners feel safe, respected and are not afraid of asking for help and making mistakes.
  3. Plan an inspiring learning environment that fosters independence, inquiry and learning progression. Maintain respect for the learning environment and resources, both indoors and outdoors. Order resources to support and extend learning in the classroom, department, learning spaces.
  4. Model and promote the Wellington values: kindness, courage, integrity, respect and responsibility in the aim of enabling the Wellington Identity (inspired, intellectual, independent, individual, inclusive). Commit to regularly collaborating with peers to understand and extend children’s theories, thoughts, ideas, and questions. Attend all team meetings and committees as necessary and take on portfolio
  5. responsibilities within the team. Confident in Microsoft Office (Excel and PowerPoint) and database systems. Adhere to all procedures and policies as outlined in the Staff Handbook and Code of Conduct

  7. Appropriate qualifications, as above. An innovative approach to education, with a willingness to embrace ICT skills. Outstanding communication skills, verbal and written. An ability to inspire young learners, setting high academic expectations. A strong commitment to Wellington values, inherent in the hallmarks of a holistic education, and a willingness to contribute to an evolving CCA programme. A resilient and determined mindset, with a capacity to work in a founding school team with overt positivity. A strong capacity for flexibility, coupled to an inherent sense of humour.

 

Working hours - 7:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday

Qualification  Expectation :

Education - Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, and relevant teaching qualifications/experience and certificates Excellent English and a TESOL. TEFL or similar qualification.

Major - In the relevant specialist(s) subject of curriculum

Working Experience : At least 3 to 4 years’ experience in with a proven track record in the relevant academic subject.
